Privacy & your information

Day Counter 1000 is Jamie Rush’s public circle for celebrating life’s milestones.

When you join

We save your name and birthdate to create your counter. New registrations join the community immediately, and Jamie receives an in-site notice so he can review new members. Your email is used privately to sign in and is never included in public counter data. Passwords are stored as salted password hashes, not readable passwords. A secure sign-in cookie keeps you logged in on this browser. Your private account details are visible only to you and Jamie.

Password resets

If you forget your password, contact Jamie. After verifying your identity and registered email, he can issue a private reset link that expires in 30 minutes and can be used once. Reset links are not emailed automatically. Only a protected digest of the link is saved. Resetting or changing your password signs out your existing sessions; your counter, resolutions and journal stay with your account. The Show button reveals only the password you are currently typing.

Your public counter

Your name, day count and milestone dates become public as soon as you register. Your birthdate is not sent in public counter data or displayed on your profile. Your public life-day number and the current date can still be used to calculate it. Email addresses are never published.

Profile photos

You can upload, replace or remove your profile photo from your account or your own profile. Photos appear publicly only while your counter is visible in the community. The upload resizes your image and removes its original file metadata. Removing your counter hides your photo; removing the photo or deleting your account deletes the stored photo.

Resolutions and journals

New resolutions and entries in your daily Journal default to Public. You can choose Private before saving. Public resolutions and entries appear on your profile and in the community while your counter is visible. Only you can read private journals. Existing entries keep their saved privacy setting when you edit them. Changing it back to Private removes it from those public views. Resolution check-in reflections stay private unless you choose to share them.

Your history

You can write an entry for today or a missed day and search your own journal by words, date, or life-day number. Entries retain their recorded life-day number and date. Older edits are marked publicly as edited, and previous wording is kept in your private version history. Changing your birthdate does not rewrite saved resolution dates or historical entries. Your selected account time zone determines today for check-ins and journaling. After a resolution day ends, a missed check-in is shown as an automatic Not Today. You can revisit earlier resolution days to add or change the outcome and reflection, including after the resolution ends. Corrections update your successful-day total.

Community and moderation

Jamie can remove public content, review reports, suspend accounts and permanently delete users. Private journals and unshared resolutions are not included in moderation views. Previously reported group messages remain available to Jamie for moderation. Public encouragement is limited to short messages. Removing a counter hides its profile and public content; it leaves your account and private records available if you add a new counter. Account deletion permanently removes the account’s records.

Nuggets for the day

You can save a quote, verse, or note of up to 150 characters using the Daily Nugget button on the home screen. View all my daily nuggets opens your private history, newest first, with each saved date and Life Day count. Empty or cleared entries are omitted. Your nugget appears above your day count for that day, using your account time zone. Nuggets start as Private. Choosing Public shares the nugget as a dated Community post while your counter is visible. Editing today’s nugget updates its post; making it Private or clearing it removes it from public view. Earlier public nuggets remain as dated posts, which you can remove in Community. Account deletion removes all your saved nuggets.

Community Challenges

Joining is optional. These short challenges use a shared time zone, start date and end date. The name, description, goal, schedule and member count are public. Members who have joined and the administrator can see participant names, participation-day totals, successful-day counts and the combined success percentage. Individual check-in dates and outcomes are visible only to the member who recorded them. Days before you join or after you leave do not count in your record. Earlier unanswered days count as Not Today and can be corrected. Leaving keeps your recorded participation; deleting your account removes it. The administrator can edit the challenge’s wording or permanently delete the challenge and its participation records.

Resolution and challenge journals

Personal Resolutions and Community Challenges have their own journal entries, separate from your daily Journal. Entries start as Private and are visible only to you. Choosing Public shares the entry, resolution or challenge name, date, Life Day and day number in Community while your counter is visible. This choice is separate from the resolution or challenge’s visibility. Private entries you save also appear in your own Community feed, labeled Private · Only you; other members and administrators cannot read them. Making an entry Private or clearing it removes its public post from view. My resolution journal and My challenge journal show your saved entries newest first. Existing personal check-in notes remain private in this history. Removing a Community post keeps the journal entry; deleting the resolution, challenge or your account removes its entries.

Previously saved records

Family & Friends and Resolution Groups are no longer available. Previously saved private names, birthdays, group memberships, check-ins and messages are retained and are not published as member profiles or community posts. Deleting your account also deletes your saved records from these features.

Milestone wishes

If Jamie adds a Facebook profile link to your counter, it is public and helps visitors open your page. Wishes are copied and posted manually by the person sharing them.

Notifications and mentions

Your notification list and read status are private to your account. It includes public mentions and encouragements, resolution check-in reminders, milestones, and account or moderation alerts. Type @ and choose a member to mention them in a public resolution, reflection, nugget or encouragement. Private entries do not send mention notifications. Alerts disappear when the source is removed, made private or no longer available to you. The same unread count is used by the website bell and, where supported, your app icon badge. Phone notifications are optional and are enabled only when you choose Turn On Notifications. We save your device’s notification endpoint linked to your signed-in account and session. Delivery uses your browser’s push service (such as Apple, Google or Mozilla). Signing out or deleting your account disables delivery for that session. Your browser and phone settings control notification permission. No notification permission is requested just by visiting.

Delete data and keep your account

Day Counter 1000 lets you delete individual records without closing your account. You can do this on the website even if you have uninstalled the app.

  1. Sign in to Day Counter 1000 with your account email and password.
  2. Choose the information you want to remove:
    • Journal entries: open Journal, find the entry, choose Delete, and confirm. The entry and its saved edit history are deleted.
    • Profile photo: open My account, find the profile-photo controls, and remove your photo. The stored image is deleted.
  3. Repeat for any other records you want to remove. Your account, sign-in details and other records remain available.

These actions remove the selected records from the app’s active storage when deletion succeeds; the app adds no waiting or recovery period. Copies that you or others previously downloaded or shared to another service are not removed by these actions.

Corrections and removal

Sign in and open My counter to edit your name or birthdate, or delete your counter. Changes to a public counter appear immediately. Deleting your counter leaves your sign-in account available; a new counter appears immediately. To permanently delete your account and saved data, open My account, choose Delete my account, and confirm with your current password. This removes your counter, profile photo, resolutions, check-ins, journals and history, community posts and comments, and group memberships, records and messages. You will be signed out on every device. The site owner account cannot be deleted through this option. For a counter Jamie added manually, contact him for corrections or removal. Creating an account does not claim an existing counter.
